A few weeks from now, Black Friday 2022 will be just around the corner, the biggest holiday shopping event of the year. Black Friday is a colloquial term used to describe the Friday after Thanksgiving. It’s a way to score discounted prices on gifts on your gift list on the unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season.
It used to be that retailers offered major discounts and “doorbuster” sales on in-store items, but these practices have changed. This year, Black Friday will be paired with Cyber Monday, which falls on Nov. 28, 2022. As more and more consumers prefer to shop online, retailers are responding by providing Black Friday sales online as well. Black Friday used to be a more in-person event, while Cyber Monday brought out the online shoppers.
Expected Deals
According to data from last year, we can make an educated guess as to what deals will be available this year. Despite supply chain issues and stock challenges, Black Friday 2021 brought in even more revenue than Black Friday 2020. Over the course of the sales event, consumers spent $205 billion, up from $188 billion in 2018.
As prices and availability can change quickly during these sales, it’s a good idea to shop early if you want the best deals. Additionally, most people shop during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, not the days leading up to these sales. As a result, you’ll face more competition during these prime shopping periods.
